Since 1978, this steel distribution/service company specializes in providing their customers with bars, wires, and tubes. Their 56,000 sq-ft headquarters is located in Melrose Park, IL and houses lathes, mills, and other machinery. 

 

In this role, you will take ownership of the shop floor to ensure efficient and on time operations spending some time programming new parts and checking set ups before operation. You will also be an integral part of personal development by coaching and training as the goal is to not just set up/run parts, but to understand the operation as a whole. 2nd shift is set up to run autonomously creating a strong work-life balance.

This is a day shift position from 7AM - 3:30 PM Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, & operate Doosan lathes using MasterCAM
  • Work with the rest of the business in terms of scheduling and to ensure products are shipped out on time 
  • Report and track production activities in the ERP system 
  • Coordinate/collaborate with other departments including the warehouse, shipping/packaging and sales functions 
  • Execute the required safety, maintenance, and ISO 9001 programs for the machining operations.

Qualifications

  • Experience with MasterCAM for CNC lathe/mill
  • Strong understanding of setting up and running a lathe with Fanuc controls
  • Problem solving skills and a desire to learn the business, beyond just machining 
  • Some manual machining experience would be great, but not necessary 
  • ISO background preferred but not required
