About the Role

We are seeking a Prototype Programmer and Machinist to contribute to the success of a growing machine shop. In this role, you’ll be primarily focused on programming one-off, highly complex parts (80% programming), while also handling setup and operation of 3-5 axis mills and CNC lathes. If you’re a hands-on individual who enjoys seeing parts through from concept to completion, this is your chance to work on truly unique projects in a fast-moving, tech-forward environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Program 3 axis mills, 5 axis mills, or lathe CNC machines on MasterCAM or HSMWorks
  • Set up and operate machines to make sophisticated 1 off parts
  • Contribute to the success of the business, and yourself!

Schedule:

  • 1st Shift with flexible working hours, most starting at 6 AM
  • No shortage of optional overtime with a focus on work-life balance

Benefits:

This truly robust benefits package, including:

  • PTO

  • Medical & Dental Insurance, with plans offering up to 100% employer coverage

  • 401(k) with company contributions

  • State-of-the-art facility with the latest equipment and technology

  • Catered lunches and snacks

  • Quarterly celebrations and company events

  • Equity ownership opportunities as the company grows

Responsibilities

  • Program CNC machines (3-axis, 5-axis mills, and lathes) for one-off and short-run prototype parts using MasterCAM or HSMWorks

  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to review technical drawings, provide manufacturability feedback, and ensure design intent is achieved

  • Set up and operate CNC machines, selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job

  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to ensure quality and tight tolerances

  • Troubleshoot and optimize programs and setups for improved efficiency and part quality

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including setup sheets, tooling lists, and job traveler updates

  • Support continuous improvement efforts by contributing ideas to enhance machining strategies, tooling, and workflow

  • Take ownership of your projects from cradle to grave — from programming to final inspection

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a CNC Programmer and/or Machinist, ideally in a prototype or R&D environment

  • Proficiency with CAM software such as MasterCAM, HSMWorks, or similar

  • Strong knowledge of 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling, and/or lathe programming

  • Hands-on experience with machine setup, tooling selection, and operation

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical documentation

  • Familiarity with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.)

  • Comfortable taking parts from concept to finished product independently

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
